I’m a freelance writer/journalist reporting on politics, culture and conflict out of Pakistan. I’m also a graduate student working along some intersection of anthropology and the media. Both of those fields reach for a form of definite truth, even if their visions of what constitutes it differ. This is not a blog for that. Here, I’m just trying to work out half-formed thoughts, hunches, and in the main, to simply question.
As a journalist as well as an academic-in-training, I also happen to have found myself on the quaking fault-line that divides academia and journalism: each regards the other with general derision.
Both have a point.
